Question 1. How often will I be home?
Answer: Over 70% of our drivers are home on a daily basis. Home time is directly related to the customer account you are assigned to serve. Many drivers are home multiple times during the week, while a few are out for up to five days at a time.
Question 2. What product will I haul?
Answer: That depends on the dedicated account in your area. We have over 40 dedicated accounts nationwide, and we move a variety of products in straight trucks, reefer, dry van, curtainside flatbed, and tanker trailers.
Question 3. What are the minimum qualifications for your driving positions?
Answer: We evaluate each applicant on a variety of criteria, but the following items are required:
- At least 1 year of recent, verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
- No DUI, DWI, drug conviction, or a positive/refused drug or alcohol test in the last five years or any now pending.
- Must be 23 years of age or older.
Question 4. Where will I need to go for my orientation?
Answer: Orientations are normally conducted at our corporate office in Bloomington IL and our staff will assist you in making arrangements for travel if necessary. On some occasions, however, newly hired employees will receive their orientation off site at the location of their assigned accounts.
Question 5. How much driver turnover do you have at Nu-Way?
Answer: We are proud to say that our turnover rates are a fraction of the industry average. Since we have some of the best jobs in the industry, we are able to hire and retain the best drivers.
Question 6. Will I have a dedicated route?
Answer: At many locations, yes. Most operations are dedicated to one customer or to one product type and provide delivery to a fixed number of local or regional locations.
Question 7. How do you determine driver pay?
Answer: Unlike most transportation companies, we provide a customized pay package for each of our locations. This allows us to properly reward our drivers based on the customer, product type and other variables.
Question 8. Does Nu-Way have a rider program?
Answer: Yes, under specific rules and guidelines.
Question 9. Do you allow pets?
Answer: No.
Question 10. Can I park the truck at home?
Answer: We prefer to domicile the equipment at our secure facilities.
Question 11. Will I need to take another physical and drug test?
Answer: We will accept your current, valid DOT physical as long as it is new within the past 6 months and a copy of the long form is available. If a physical exam is required, Nu-Way will pay for it. All approved candidates will need to pass a drug test prior to beginning employment.
Question 12. Do Nu-Way trucks have air conditioning?
Answer: Yes.
